Type of employment: Full time (37 hours) on a local contract for three years with the possibility of extension.

The Embassy of Denmark in Santiago is looking for a strategic thinking and results-oriented commercial advisor to assist Danish companies looking to enter/expand business in Chile, Peru and Ecuador primarily within, but no limited to, the health and life science sector.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
As commercial advisor in the health and life science sector, your focus will be strategic support and guidance of Danish companies that are already present in Chile or are considering doing business in Chile. Your tasks are primarily to pursue and engage in long-term strategic partnerships with Danish companies and selected Chilean partners (GPA-tasks).
The Department of Economic Diplomacy and Trade is part of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Trade Council and work in a close regional cooperation with the Danish missions in Latin American. In the Trade Council in LATAM and Chile, we have our strategic focus on four sectors: Energy Transition, Tech, Health & Life Science and Food & Agro. You will work in a regional setting with other commercial advisors at the Danish missions in Latin America, and will be the Embassy’s representative in the regional Health & Life Science sector team. Some travel in Latin America and to Denmark is expected.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Identifying concrete business opportunities for Danish companies in Chile, drawing upon your knowledge and network within the Chilean health and life science sector
- In coordination with your colleagues in the Latin American health and life science sector team, identify and engage in dialogue with the Danish companies in the sector, helping them understand the business opportunities in Chile and in other Latin American markets
- Stakeholder management with the Chilean, Peruvian and Ecuadorian authorities and private organizations on behalf of the Danish companies
- Arrange and participate in sales and partner visits in Chile, Peru and Ecuador on behalf of Danish companies from the health and life science sector, developing market opportunities in the countries
- Contribute to the Trade Council’s social media platforms in relation to commercial activities
- Ensure that the Department’s KPIs in the health and life science sector are met
Required qualifications
- Must have a valid work and residence permit for Chile
- Knowledge of Nordic business culture is an advantage, but not a requirement
- Knowledge of/experience from working in the health and life science sector would be an advantage, but not a requirement
- Knowledge of how Danish Embassies collaborate with Danish companies in a business context is an advantage, but not a requirement
- A high sense of responsibility and good motivational skills
- Relevant higher education
- IT proficiency and solid Microsoft Office skills, flair for basic CRM data processing
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Spanish
- Knowledge of a Scandinavian language (Danish, Norwegian or Swedish) is an advantage, but not a requirement
- Ability to learn to act as a public servant in accordance with Danish regulations and standards
- Great interpersonal skills and team player abilities as well as interest in and willingness to share knowledge with – and learn from – colleagues
- Pro-active personality with the ability to foster and maintain networks within your field
Reporting:
- You will report to the Head of Economic Diplomacy and Trade.

Employment conditions:
- You will be offered a full time employment for three years with the possibility of extension on a local contract based on the relevant legally binding labour market rules of Chile
- Your standard working hours will be 37 hours per week
- You will be entitled to 25 days of paid vacation per year
- Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant work experience and proven work-related results
